| About the Task Force In 1997, Alameda County's three major non-profit HIV/AIDS organizations that served the African American Community lost signifigant HIV/AIDS funding from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). African American organizations responded to the lack of funding individually, but without success. In an effort to galvanize and organize as a stronger force, African American agencies joined forces to address the issues surrounding the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS on the African American community.
